SORRENTO BEACH HOUSE TRANFORMATION

One of the painting groups I work with is called 'Wow Factor Painting Solutions', and they called me in to help transform a very tired old 90's house exterior and bring it into the modern day. As you can see we have breathed new life into the appearance of it adding considerable value to this beachside beauty. Here's how I worked with the customers creating a brilliant new colour scheme.

During our appointment, the owners and I had a thorough discussion about the architectural style of their home and what their desired outcome might be. We talked about a fresh modern look, the coastal vibe and the now, on trend colours. Walking around the exterior of the home also helped me consider the already existing roof colour which wasn't changing, the ti-tree bush surroundings and how much direct sunlight the house was exposed to.

It was confirmed the owners were looking for a light, bright colour on the weatherboards and a bright white for the trims. Together we selected Dulux Tranquil Retreat on weatherboards, Lexicon Quarter on all timber fascias, eaves, window frames and support posts. The feature front door and back entertaining feature area was Dulux Tamas.

When selecting a grey tone for your home, please spend extra time learning about what the undertone of it is. Grey's can be blue, green, purple or brown and the more neutral the better, which was definitely was the case here with the lovley Tranquil Retreat. Lexicon Quarter is one of our brightest whites and we needed something like it to provide a sharp contrast on the home, and of course Tamas, the beautiful mid toned teal colour set everything off.

Lastly we discussed the base boards on the house which had never been treated with any paint, they were still in their natural condition. I encouraged the owners to have them painted, to visually 'ground' the house, especially as there were a significant number of them in some areas. As you can see by painting them, it has completely changed the finished look of the house.
