BEAUTIFUL NEW INTERIOR COLOURS - PAINT TRENDS

Who would have thought that crisp white and grey would ever leave our preferred interior colour palettes! Most customers I now see are opting for much warmer paint colours to suit the new relaxed coastal style and decor.  Here are a few of the colours I love using and how they actually look in a room. I'll also explain what sheen levels to use and where the colours should go on the wall, ceilings and trims to finish the room perfectly.

The outright winner and best all rounder is Dulux Natural White,  it's one of those colours that seem to take on the colours that surround it in furnishings and reflective light as evidenced in the images provided by Dulux. Note how the same colour is painted on ceilings, walls and trims. Dulux Ceiling White for ceilings (tinted to the the specified colour), Wash & Wear Low Sheen for the walls and Aquanamel Low Gloss for the trims (a beautiful new sheen level which eliminates most of the gloss content, but is super hard wearing).

The ceilings, walls and trims are all Natural White here, but you can see the room takes on a warm glow considering the furnishings, and of course the light coming through the curtained windows.

In this image the ceilings, walls and trims are also painted in Dulux Natural White, but the furnishings make it cast a cooler glow onto the walls.

Another wall colour which has seen a come back lately is Dulux Whisper White. This white has more black in the tint, with a touch of green and I love using it when an interior has terracotta floor tiles or floorboards with that orange glow.

A new gorgeous, soft white is beginning to emerge, Dulux White Dune Quarter. It reminds me of the old Hog Bristle Quarter, but White Dune Quarter is a little more oatmeal toned rather than the old traditional cream. Once again, we are using the same colour on ceilings, walls and trims to achieve a super relaxed vibe. The colour of the window frames in this image are contrasted to suit its environment and decor, it wouldn't suit every home. The colour used here is Dulux Coalition, doesn't it look stunning.

White Dune Quarter is also used in this room but notice how the furnishings cast a different glow on the walls.

In any case, have fun with colour, it never ceases to amaze me how trends ebb and flow and especially bring personality to every room. Check out the colour variants in each of the samples below.
