HOW TO CREATE A MOOD BOARD
Creating a mood board is an excellent way to make your new home or renovation come alive, or if you're like me I love to create and dream of the wonderful things I might do to my house one day. The cold winter months are an excellent time to curl up on a chair and get lost in your little world of design. Through this article I'll explain how to effectively create a mood board, and with the help of technology organise your mood boards online, I'll share one of my most favourite platforms.
Begin by collecting images of things, rooms, styles or colours you love. If you're thinking bathroom, find as many pictures of things you like. Pintrest or Houzz are great platforms to scour through in front of the TV at night. Save images even if you only like one thing in it, it's amazing how you'll keep coming back to them. Save your images in a folder to keep them all together, naming them to suit, ie. bathroom, or window furnishings.
Stylesourcebook.com.au is a really fun program and you can either use their already stored images or upload your own for a visual cue to see how they might work together. The beauty of this program is that the pre-stored images on the stylesourcebook website are real items that you can go and purchase here in Australia if you really love what you create. Its so much fun creating, you'll get lost in it for hours!
Here's a mood board I've recently completed for a customers' bathroom.
Its always best to organise your mood boards room by room, and remember to add notes to help you remember what you were thinking.
Stylecourcebook.com.au automatically saves every item you've selected from their site and will list them below your board so you'll know where to purchase them if you like and the price is also included. Sometimes there will be a discount or two on items if you're lucky. Happy mood boarding!!!
